A Mossel Bay DA councillor’a alleged use of the “k” word has landed her in hot water.

Cape Town - The Western Cape DA disciplinary committee is investigating a racist remark made by Mossel Bay councillor Susan Moodie, the party said on Tuesday.

“The committee is currently investigating the matter and the prosecutor is preparing a charge sheet,” said Democratic Alliance provincial chairman Anton Bredell.

The committee was expected to make a finding within the next two weeks.

In May, Moodie apparently told community committee member Elsabe Moolman over the phone that she would “bring in a bus full of k*****s” to disrupt a community meeting about a land development.

When Moolman confronted her, she apparently repeated what she had said.

The Mossel Bay municipality council referred the matter to the code of conduct committee on July 26.

On September 28, Moodie was found guilty of transgressing the party code and was fined R10,000. She was also ordered to make a public apology.

According to the party, Moodie had not appealed the finding.

She would remain in her position until the disciplinary committee had come to a decision.

She could face anything from a formal warning, fine or reprimanding to suspension or dismissal from her post.

“Our public representatives are the custodians of the DA brand. Actions and behaviour that are in conflict with the norms and values of the party will be dealt with in a strict and thorough manner,” Bredell said. - Sapa
