94.5 Kfm has been inundated with messages of support after DJ Ryan O'Connor's daughter was stillborn.
|||Cape Town - Capetonians and friends have rallied around one of the airwaves’ most popular broadcasters after 94.5 Kfm anchor Ryan O’Connor’s daughter was stillborn just a week before she was due on April 15.
They had already decided to name her Grace, and the effervescent morning talk show host had for many months been expressing his excitement at his new role as a father.
But early on Tuesday he tweeted: “Hi everyone, very sad news for myself and my wife Karen this morning: It’s with a heavy heart we say rest in peace to our daughter Grace O’Connor. We will love you forever. Heaven has a place for you.”
He confirmed their unborn daughter had died on Monday night.
The radio station said on Tuesday that since the news had broken the station had been inundated with messages of support and love for the O’Connors.
Colleen Louw, station manager, said: “We are all devastated. The magnitude of their loss is beyond words. We ask that everyone keep them in their thoughts and prayers… We also ask that everyone respect their privacy to give them the time and space that they will need to find healing.”
