At least 10 vacant posts for judges at various courts need to be filled, the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) said on Tuesday.
In a statement the JSC said it invited nominations to fill the vacancies.
The High Courts in Johannesburg and Pretoria had four vacancies while the Free State High Court, Western Cape High Court and the Eastern Cape High Court in Bhisho each had one vacancy.
“The Electoral Court has one vacancy. Candidates for this vacancy should either be advocates or attorneys.”
The labour courts had one vacancy for a deputy judge president and one for a judge.
“In making nominations, regard should be (taken) to the possibility that more judicial vacancies may occur than have been advertised,” the JSC said.
Closing date for applications is July 26. Nominations should be accompanied by the candidate's written consent, a curriculum vitae, and a completed questionnaire signed by the candidate. Candidates should include at least three judgments they had made. - Sapa
