The case against three people accused of fraudulently issuing learners' licences was postponed by the Worcester Magistrate's Court on Tuesday, Western Cape police said.

Dumile Mkheta, 21, Zandile Sophi, 40, and Gary Choice, 40, would appear in court again on March 28, said Captain Mzikayise Moloi.

They were granted bail of R10 000 each.

The two traffic officers and a civilian allegedly issued licences to the public for R2500 each.

People would pay the money to a runner, who would sms their details to the examiners, who would in turn provide them with crib notes, said Western Cape transport MEC Robin Carlisle.

The department could not confirm the number of licences issued in this manner. - Sapa
