|||Police Minister Nathi Mthethwa's former police bodyguard and two other men appeared in the Wynberg Magistrate's Court in Cape Town on Thursday.
Defence lawyer Zirk Mackay said his client, Ianval Suiling Isaacs, 33, was ready for trial.
“I would really like to say let's keep this as short as possible. My client really wants to get this matter finished,” he said.
Advocate Ntando Kali, for co-accused Amdat Hossain, 42, and Mohammad Shapul Islam, 34, said the two would need a translator.
“Your honour we need a translator that can speak Bengali.”
The court set down March 15 for the trial and would find a translator. The men's bail was extended.
Isaacs is accused of breaking into Mthethwa's home, stealing the minister's laptop and cellphone, and then selling the items to Hossain and Islam.
The three were arrested in September last year. – Sapa
