|||Three more people have been arrested in connection with perlemoen (abalone) found in a minibus taxi in Nyanga, Cape Town, Western Cape police said on Wednesday.
Captain Frederick van Wyk said a Mitchells Plain policeman, 32, a woman, 38, and a 39-year-old man were arrested on Tuesday at Ilitha Park, Khayelitsha.
He said a car and diving suits and equipment were confiscated.
The first three people were arrested in White City, Nyanga, on Tuesday morning for possession of perlemoen with a street value of R500 000.
A total of 2 100 shucked perlemoen were found in black refuse bags under the seat of the taxi.
All six would appear in Athlone Magistrate's Court on Thursday. – Sapa
