Police hope to establish whether two bodies found in bushes in Atlantis are those of Marshay Louw, 18, and her 15-month-old daughter.
|||Police hope to establish within days whether two bodies found in bushes in Sherwood Park, Atlantis, are those of 18-year-old Marshay Louw and her 15-month-old daughter, Tatum.
The two were last seen in Atlantis on Saturday, March 31.
Post-mortems would be conducted during the course of this week to determine whether it was Marshay and Tatum, and the cause of their deaths, police spokesman Frederick van Wyk said yesterday.
Louw’s sister, Nadia Albertyn, on Monday told the Cape Times Louw had left the house with her daughter on the morning to buy nappies, but had never returned.
“We went to the police on Saturday evening and have been searching ever since. We continue to search throughout the night,” said Albertyn.
Albertyn said the family was anxiously awaiting post-mortem results.
“We were not able to identify the bodies that were found last week because they were so badly decomposed. Forensics had to get DNA from my mother to see if it matches that of the female that was found… I cannot describe the pain we feel. It is unbearable. My mother is taking this really hard,” said Albertyn.
In a flyer sent out by Missing Children SA, Marshay was described as being 1.5m tall and weighing about 45kg. She has dark brown/black hair and brown eyes.
Tatum has brown hair, brown eyes and weighs 8-10kg. She was last seen wearing a pink tracksuit and blue denim shoes.
