The trial of a man accused of shooting a 12-year-old girl dead has been postponed.
|||The trial of a man accused of shooting a 12-year-old girl dead was postponed in the Bishop Lavis Magistrate's Court on Tuesday.
Faizel Swartz, 21, appeared briefly in the dock, wearing a yellow shirt and jeans, and applied for Legal Aid.
Magistrate Paul Louw postponed the matter to May 3 for a formal bail application.
Sade Boltman, 12, was walking with her sister Tiffaney, 17, and cousin Quade, 12, in Bonteheuwel on Saturday night when they were caught in a crossfire. Two rival gangs were shooting at each other on the corner of Vlamboom and Vaalbos streets.
Sade died on the scene. Her sister was shot in the right foot, and Quade in his left cheek. Police arrested Swartz at the scene.
He faced charges of murder, attempted murder, and illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition. – Sapa
