|||A 47-year-old man has been murdered while on night-shift duty at a block of holiday apartments in Sea Point.
Provincial police spokesman Captain FC van Wyk said the body of Gavin Patrick Antonio was found in his office at the Aquarius flats in Milner Road in Sea Point at 12.35amon Wednesday.
He said police believe Antonio was strangled, since his head was covered with a bag and a rope tied around his neck. At the time of his death, Antonio had been working the night shift as the building manager.
Aquarius management declined to comment on Wednesday.
Van Wyk said a murder docket had been opened, but no arrests were made.

On Wednesday morning, a 32-year-old man from Brooklyn was arrested for dealing in drugs and reckless and negligent driving during a drug-busting operation by Maitland police.
During a search at the suspect’s home at Glennifer Street, police confiscated 290 grams of cocaine and three bags of crack cocaine with an estimated street value of R87 000.
The suspect was due to appear in the Cape Town Magistrate’s Court on Thursday.
On Tuesday, a Somali shop owner at the corner of NY 61 and NY1 in Gugulethu was robbed at gunpoint by two men, who made off on foot with R8 000.
The businessman flagged down members of the Gugulethu police and their investigations led them to a shack in the area. Inside were two men who the victim positively identified as the robbers. Police discovered a pistol with ammunition, as well as R7 800 in cash.
The two suspects face charges of business robbery and possession of an illegal firearm and ammunition. They are due to appear in the Athlone Magistrate’s Court.
Around 10am on Tuesday, a furniture delivery truck was hijacked at NY 108 in Gugulethu by three unidentified men. The suspects then drove off in a VW Jetta and the truck.
They were later spotted by Gugulethu police in the furniture truck, which was parked in Old Crossroads. They fled on foot, but a plasma-screen TV was found in the truck and more stolen goods were found at a Gugulethu house.
A 28-year-old woman was arrested at the house and was due to appear in the Athlone Magistrate’s Court on Thursday. - Cape Argus
