ANC Youth League deputy president Ronald Lamola said it would be in the interests of white monopoly capital to share the wealth of SA with black people.

Lamola, who was speaking about economic transformation on Wednesday night at UCT, said the “black ANC government” should take black professionals seriously by assisting them to build companies to rival KPMG and Ernst & Young.

Lamola also called for the ANC not to abandon the youth league. Throughout the meeting there was singing with one song telling of how President Jacob Zuma and ANC secretary-general Gwede Mantashe “will leave the house” while Deputy President Kgalema Motlanthe will “come into the house”.

He also took jabs at DA leader Helen Zille, the ANC leadership, “white monopoly capital” and SACP youth leader Buti Manamela.

“We are inspired by Zwelinzima Vavi – we will not be told by Helen Zille who comrade Vavi is... He will one day lead the ANC and SACP,” he said.

Lamola said old people by their nature were conservative and slow. “We must push them out of their comfort zone,” he said.

Accusing Manamela, of grandstanding “now that comrade Julius Malema has been expelled”, he said Manamela was “a political opportunist ”.
